Are you sure you want to delete this answer? Yes Sorry, something has gone wrong. Is this an essay you must submit to be admitted into a University?
Choose an issue of importance to you—the issue could be personal, school related, local, political, or international in scope—and write an essay in which you explain the significance of that issue to yourself, your family, your community, or your generation.
When leniency and laziness come hand in hand, it begins to fester into an issue. Usually if students refuse to turn in their homework, their grades reflect their effort, because the teachers give them zeros for those assignments. This is a problem; students should suffer the consequences of their actions and realize that you have to work to succeed in this life.
The problem, then, transforms into a major issue, when students gradually begin to take advantage of the situation, and teachers continue to falsely pass these students. This gradual decline of work ethic and integrity affects the community, which effects our generation, and myself.
Our community suffers from this issue because these students eventually have to go out in our community and make an impact, whether good or bad.
Transitioning from high school to college will be difficult for students with the illusion of free passing grades. With this impression, these effortless students will contribute to the college drop-out rating. College professors will not wait for their assignments nor will they hassle students for them.
An accumulation of zeros will lead to failing and dropping out of college, then the ex-student is off to look for a job. When losing the ex-student and then a potential teenager in further education, the community losses two nurse, doctor, lawyer, or other needed position opportunities.
The loss of those positions effect the future well-being of the community, which is why teachers should be dealt with quickly.
The effect on the community will soon contribute to affecting our generation. These characteristics lead to laziness, failure, stupidity, and child-like mentality. As time progresses, more and more students with a lack of effort will infest our world, laziness will ensue, and our generation will soon be cared for by the next generation.
The education system decides to decrease the educational level we as students learn at when they receive the results of the few who try and the majority who deserted work ethic. This deters my learning and others like me who want to become nurses, doctors, and lawyers, which causes us to fall behind in material needed to achieve our goals.
With this decline in learning comes an increase in the learning gap between senior year of high school and freshman year of college.
Although I, can concur the learning gap, those who lack work ethic will have difficulty adjusting and will become an infector of the community. All effects of teachers falsely passing students, by being lenient towards late and missing assignments, are negative and harmful to society.
No one benefits from this issue, even the kids who abuse the situation, in the end, have to suffer the consequences of lacking work ethic, when college comes around. Not only do they suffer, we as a community, as a generation, and as individuals are negatively impacted; that is why this is not a personal problem, but a major issue.UT Austin's prompt is "Choose an issue of importance to you the issue could be personal, school related, local, political, or international in nature and write an essay in which you explain the significance of that issue to yourself, your family, your community, or your generation.".
